Tobacco control content in World Congress of Cardiology Dubai 17 April

Hi all,

The World Congress of Cardiology will feature a rich content in tobacco control with top global and regional tobacco control leaders….as we continue to work to engage cardiologists in tobacco control and tobacco cessation. I hope that many of you will be there and come.

There are still places left at the full-day Pre-Congress workshop on 17 April: Tobacco and Heart Health: Taking Action (full day workshop on tobacco control) Organized by World Heart Federation, Global Bridges and Global Smokefree Partnership, the workshop will present an overview of current priorities in tobacco control and tobacco dependence treatment, with a focus on their relevance to heart health. It will bring together global and regional tobacco control experts and leaders participating in the congress, representatives of Heart Foundations active in tobacco control and health professionals and officials from the Emirates to discuss priorities, share best practice and determine how global and regional heart networks can have an important impact on progress tackling this important CVD risk factors. Speakers include Richard Hurt, Eduardo Bianco, Harry Lando, Beatriz Champagne, Armando Peruga and more. Topics are: NCD advocacy and tobacco, smokefree policy, tobacco dependence treatment for patients with CVD, and awareness of CVD and tobacco around the world.

On 20 April we will launch a new WHF/ITC/WHO report on global knowledge on links between tobacco use, secondhand smoke exposure, and cardiovascular disease. It will be available from 20 April at the WHF booth. We will issue a press release on it so if anyone things they could use it, let me know and I will hook it in to our press team.

Also at the booth, we will have a 10-minute survey on tobacco dependence treatment in clinical practice: if you fill it out you are entered into a raffle for a free entry in our next congress.
