Australia: High risk of CVD for women
Cardiovascular disease is a significant health threat to Australian women, according to a recent report by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare. Around 2 million women have a cardiovascular disease, and in 2006, cardiovascular disease was responsible for more than one-third of all deaths. More than 90% of the women have at least one modifiable health risk - the greatest risk concerns are overweight/obesity and smoking. Australian Institute of Health and Welfare.
