Indonesia: Health strategies implemented in cultural context
Community level health intervention programs are rarely implemented due to the difficulties associated with implementing such programs within a local, cultural context. A recent such intervention program found that the Javanese precepts of "balance and harmony" had to be observed in order for their program to be positively received. Researchers involved stressed the importance of tailoring interventions to specific cultures in order to successfully make health changes in a region.
