Tonga: Obesity related illness at all time high
Eighty percent of all surgeries at local hospitals are due to lifestyle related diseases, particularly obesity, as amputations and heart disease are at an all time high. Six out of every 10 Tongans are obese, and the average person eats four times the recommended amount of food suggested by the Tongan health department. The Tongan government is considering a ban or tax on poor quality imported foods. Aljazeera.
