India: New diabetes mobile health program to reach one million people

Arogya World, working with Nokia, recently launched a new diabetes prevention mobile health program that aims to reach one million people within two years. Targeting rural and urban populations nationwide, the program will raise awareness about diabetes and prevention using mobile phone text messages in multiple languages. Messages will be sent twice a week, in 12 different languages, to customers who have Nokia Life Tools on their phones or those who subscribe to Nokia's health channels. After an initial six-month period, customers will opt-in with a nominal fee to continue receiving the messages. Around 50 million people in India have diabetes and one million die every year because of it. Arogya World.
