Brazil: Declaration on social determinants of health made

The WHO's World Conference on Social Determinants of Health was marked by the passage of the Rio Political Declaration - a set of global commitments that take collective action on improving daily living conditions; tackling the inequitable distribution of power, money, and resources; and measuring the social determinants of health and assessing the impact of action taken. The overarching commitments of the Rio Political Declaration include: adopting better governance for health and development, promoting participation in policy-making and implementation, reorienting the health sector towards reducing health inequalities, strengthening global governance and collaboration, monitoring progress and increasing accountability, and calling for global action.
