Brazil: Nationwide ban on public smoking

President Dilma Rousseff recently signed a law that bans smoking in enclosed public spaces across all of Brazil. Similar bans were already in effect in Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Parana, however this new, nationwide ban will make Brazil the largest country in the world population-wise to go smoke-free. The law will also ban tobacco advertising at point of sale, raise the tax on tobacco, and require large health warnings on both sides of cigarette packages. AFP.
