US: New York City seeks limit sales of large sodas

Mayor Michael Bloomberg proposed a ban on the sale of large-size sugar sweetened beverages in restaurants, movie theaters, delis, and similar venues. The ban would apply to drinks that contain more than 25 calories for every eight ounces of fluid, and would affect drinks that are larger than 16 ounces. Diet sodas or dairy-based drinks would not apply. Around 58% of New York City adults and 40% of school students are overweight or obese. Yahoo.
